AgGeorgia representatives visit Boys & Girls Club in Chatsworth

July 14, 2026

AgGeorgia Farm Credit is proud to recognize the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Georgia as a recipient of a $2,000 Community Mission Fund grant, supporting the organization’s “Let It Grow” program at its Chatsworth Club.

The grant helped establish the Club’s first-ever garden, creating an outdoor learning space where youth gain hands-on experience in agriculture, nutrition, science and environmental stewardship. The project includes raised vegetable and fruit beds, a pollinator garden and seating areas that provide opportunities for both learning and reflection.

Serving 196 youth, the Chatsworth Club uses the garden as the foundation for its “Let It Grow” curriculum. Club members play an active role in maintaining the garden, giving them practical experience while fostering responsibility, teamwork and an appreciation for agriculture. The space also includes “buddy benches” to encourage connection and support positive mental health among youth.

The need for programs like “Let It Grow” is significant in Murray County, where many families face economic challenges. Nearly all Chatsworth Club members qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, highlighting the importance of providing access to educational opportunities and healthy lifestyle resources outside the classroom.

“Projects like this demonstrate the lasting impact community partnerships can have on young people,” said Rob Crain, Chief Executive Officer of AgGeorgia Farm Credit. “By supporting hands-on agricultural education and healthy living initiatives, we’re investing in the next generation while strengthening the rural communities we serve.”

“AgGeorgia Farm Credit’s support of our inaugural Club garden and ‘Let It Grow’ curriculum has created meaningful opportunities for our youth to explore STEM, nutrition and sustainable food production through hands-on learning,” said Sarah Brumbeloe, Director of Grants and Foundations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Georgia.
