Georgia Envirothon

December 10, 2025

AgGeorgia Farm Credit was proud to support the Georgia Envirothon, an innovative natural resource education program that challenges high school students through hands-on, outdoor competitions in environmental science and conservation. Funding from AgGeorgia’s Community Mission Fund helped support the 2025 State Competition, held at Flinchum Phoneix at UGA Whitehall Forest.

The Georgia Envirothon brings together teams of four to six high school students who compete in categories including Wildlife, Forestry, Aquatic Ecology, Soils and Land Use, and a Current Environmental Issue. Students take written and hands-on tests outdoors and present their findings on the Current Issue. The winning team advances to represent Georgia at the national NCF Envirothon Competition.

“The Envirothon not only challenges students academically, but also motivates and inspires them to become environmentally aware and take responsibility for conserving our natural resources,” said Kimberly McCollum, President of the Georgia Envirothon. “By engaging in this program, students are building skills that will serve them, and our environment, for years to come.”

AgGeorgia Farm Credit awarded $53,800 in 2024 through its Community Mission Fund to twelve nonprofit organizations across Georgia. Launched in 2023, the grant program supports projects that promote the future of agriculture and enhance the quality of life in rural communities, with grants of up to $5,000 awarded per project.

“The Georgia Envirothon is a powerful way to engage young people in agriculture and natural resource conservation,” said AgGeorgia’s Marketing Director, Corey Cottle. “We are honored to support this program that equips the next generation with knowledge and passion for stewardship of the land.”
