Irwin County Farmers Market

September 25, 2025

AgGeorgia Farm Credit is pleased to announce Irwin County Farmer’s Market as one of five recipients of its 2025 Farmers Market Grant Program. The market received $2,000 in funding to support signage, an attendant, and advertising efforts aimed at increasing visibility and community participation.

Currently hosting two markets each month, Irwin County Farmer’s Market hopes to expand operations with the long-term goal of opening daily. One of the needs addressed by the grant will be a new sign to better direct traffic to the market’s location, which sits just behind the main road. By improving visibility and awareness, market organizers aim to attract more customers and, in turn, create additional sales opportunities for local farmers and vendors.

Carl Hutchinson, Chairman of Irwin County Commissioners, accepted the grant on behalf of the Irwin County Farmers Market, noting, “These funds went to restoring the water supply at our market. We now have a fully functioning market.” This investment not only assists local farmers but also brings fresh produce to our tables and strengthens the core of our communities.

A total of $10,000 in grant funding—$2,000 per market—was awarded to five local farmers markets across AgGeorgia Farm Credit’s 79-county service area in 2025. Now in its fifth year, the initiative has provided $44,500 in funding to support the growth and sustainability of rural markets and the farmers they serve.

AgGeorgia Farm Credit plans to continue the Farmers Market Grant Program in 2026 and encourages all eligible markets, especially those who have applied previously but not yet been selected, to apply during the next cycle.
