AgGeorgia Community Mission Fund Recipient - Pulaski Fire Department

June 10, 2026

AgGeorgia Farm Credit is proud to highlight the vital work of the Pulaski County Fire Department, a recipient of a $5,000 grant through AgGeorgia’s Community Mission Fund. This investment has allowed the department to fully equip two brush trucks with essential firefighting tools, significantly enhancing wildfire response across central Georgia’s rural and agricultural landscapes.

Pulaski County serves as a vital hub for Georgia timber, livestock, and row-crop production. For a small combination fire agency responsible for 250 square miles and over 10,000 residents, maintaining specialized equipment is essential to protecting the livelihoods of local farm families.

Strengthening Rural Georgia’s First Responders
The grant addressed a critical need for rapid-response gear. The department utilized the funds to outfit their brush trucks with a comprehensive suite of tools designed for the unique challenges of rural firefighting:

  • Wildfire Suppression: Backpack pumps and drip torches for controlled burns and containment.
  • Tactical Equipment: Chainsaws, hand tools, and specialized mounting hardware for efficient deployment in heavy timber and brush.
  • First Responder Safety: High-visibility lanterns and water coolers to support crews during high-heat harvest and drought periods.

A Commitment to Our Agricultural Communities
"In a predominantly agricultural community like Hawkinsville, even a small fire can quickly threaten crops, equipment, and homes," said Hawkinsville City Commissioner Ken Clark. "With limited financial resources and a rising call volume, this AgGeorgia funding directly improves our readiness to protect the assets that drive our local economy."

"Our mission at AgGeorgia extends beyond providing credit; it’s about investing in the safety and future of the communities where our member-borrowers live and work," said AgGeorgia’s Chief Marketing Officer Corey Cottle.

The Community Mission Fund supports local organizations and initiatives that make a tangible difference in the rural communities we serve. From agricultural education and advocacy to veteran programs and emergency services, we are committed to the long-term success of Georgia agriculture.
